CIRCUIT COURT

The majority of cases in Madison County are handled in Edwardsville at the Madison County Courthouse and the Criminal Justice Center.  Branch courts are located in Granite City, Collinsville, and Alton.  The Branch courts are used primarily to hear the Traffic and Misdemeanor cases filed in those municipalities.

For purposes of administration, the Circuit Court is divided into divisions. The main divisions are the Law Division, Criminal Division, Probate Division, Traffic Division, and the Domestic Relations Division. At this time Circuit Judges Charles Romani, Jr., and Richard Tognarelli and Associate Judge James Hackett and Janet Heflin are assigned to the Criminal Division at the Criminal Justice Center. The Law Division is staffed by Circuit Judges Andy Matoesian, Daniel Stack, Barbara Crowder, David Hylla and Dennis Ruth at the Madison County Courthouse.  Associate Judges Duane Bailey, Tom Chapman, Ellar Duff, David Grounds, Clarence Harrison, Keith Jensen, Elizabeth Levine Levy, Ralph Mendelsohn, Nelson Metz, Kyle Napp and Steve Stobbs handle the remaining divisions.
