The Chief Judge of the Circuit is responsible for the overall administrative supervision of the Court, its staff, various facilities and divisions. This position is selected by the Circuit Judges, usually for a two year term. This assignment is presently held by Circuit Judge Ann Callis.
The other Circuit and Associate Judges in Madison County are responsible for the actual disposition of cases within their particular division and are assigned the specific cases on their docket by the Chief Judge. At the present time, all of the judges in the Law Division have approximately 500 cases on their dockets. Each judge must process, set and try or dispose of the cases on his docket. They will have jury trials during the first three weeks of the month and in the fourth week will hear non-jury cases, motions and other pretrial or post-trial proceedings which do not require the services of a jury. |
