Target Population:
|
Persons and organizations interested in resolving the problems of homelessness including government entities, elected officials, non-profit organizations, financial institutions, businesses, housing developers, churches, health care providers, neighborhood associations, educators, the media, homeless and formerly homeless persons.

Vision:
|
Homeless persons and families in Madison County should have access to the same safe, stable, and humane living conditions that all people need to maintain a healthy life. Madison County government, service organizations and citizens will work together to make an effective system of support and housing available in our communities and accessible to those who need assistance. We accept the challenge presented by the diversity of homeless persons and families and welcome their participation in building a better future for all citizens.

Objectives/Outcomes:
|
- End Chronic Homelessness in Madison County by 2012.
- Continue to expand the number of affordable supportive housing units available to the chronic homeless. (36 units by 2007)
- Improve access to mainstream resources, housing and supportive services for homeless.
- Continue to expand supply of affordable housing (80 units yearly through 2010).
- Improve coordination of resources with state funded facilities to improve discharge planning for their clients.
- Expand homeless prevention efforts through consumer education and financial assistance.

Committees:

- Executive Committee – The Executive Committee establishes the annual schedule of meetings, recruits new members, sets goals and monitors accomplishments.
- Housing- Increase the availability of affordable permanent housing by accessing available public housing and continuing development of non-PHA resources.
- Homeless MIS- Achieve better overall coordination of the Continuum of Care.
- Emergency Shelter and Homeless Prevention- Expand homeless prevention efforts and shelter facilities.
- Mainstream Resources- Improve transportation services, medical/dental care and other supportive services for homeless people.
