Storm Water
Management Planning Commission
The twelve member Storm Water Management Planning Commission was originated in 2007 to work with residents, staff, consultants and the Madison County Board to develop a Master Plan for storm water management for Madison County.
Under the direction of the Commission and the Madison County Planning and Development Department, various storm water management programs are developed, prioritized and ultimately implemented when funding is available and benefits justified.
The Storm Water Planning Commission is charged to create the County’s Storm Water Comprehensive Master Plan and to also periodically reflect completed projects and anticipated projects. The Commission shall monitor state and federal regulations as they apply to the County, in order to recommend the appropriate revisions to current standards or passage of new ordinances.
The Commission also coordinates with local storm water management groups, such as the Madison County Soil and Conservation District, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Metro-East Sanitary District and the US Army Corps of Engineers to develop resident education on programs stream bank maintenance, water quality and storm water Best Management Practices (BMPs).
