Welcome
Welcome to the Madison County Treasurer's Office website. My goal
in this site is to try and answer our taxpayers' most
common questions. I have organized all information into
the categories shown below. Click on one of the
categories to begin your search. I hope you will find
the information informative. Should you have suggestions
or questions, please let us know via our Customer
Service Survey.
Since I entered office, I am making every effort to place as much
of your information “online” as possible. You will note
we have added tax distribution reports for several
years, as well as information on our investment and
other programs. We continue to place new information
online weekly and a complete new site is coming soon.
The Office of County Treasurer
The Office of the County Treasurer serves the dual functions of
County Treasurer and the County Collector of funds. The County Treasurer
has the responsibility to receive, invest, and safely
keep the tax revenues and other public monies of the
County. The Treasurer’s Office also engages in a
comprehensive investment program for idle funds to earn
additional revenue for the County; investment objectives
include safety of principal, liquidity, and maximum rate
of return. The Treasurer also is responsible for the
disbursement of all County revenues as authorized by law
or by the County Board.
The County Treasurer prepares all bills and receipts for the
purposes of tax collection in Madison County. The office
collects tax revenues on behalf of all taxing districts
in the County, such as local governments, school
districts and other taxing bodies and then disburses the
revenues back to them. The Treasurer does not set tax
rates or assess property tax amounts. The County Treasurer also is
required to receive and record the state mandated inheritance tax and
must report and pay all inheritance tax collections to the Treasurer of the
State of Illinois. The Treasurer is also responsible
for reporting on the status of payment of delinquent
property taxes and provides reports to the State of
Illinois and the
County Board on financial matters. The
Treasurer’s Office maintains complete records of all the
financial accounts of the County.
Sincerely
Frank Miles, County Treasurer
