The Great River Workforce Development Corporation Inc. (GRWDC), a subsidiary of the Board, offers educational scholarships each year to high school graduates entering Lewis & Clark Community College, Southwestern Illinois College or Kaskaskia College the following fall. The GRWDC has been sponsoring the community college scholarship program since 2007. To qualify for the scholarship, students must be residents of either Madison County or Bond County. In 2015, five $1000 scholarships were awarded and the scholarship winners are featured below.

Jonathan Klunk graduated from Alton High School with a 4.36 grade point average. During his 4 years, he was very active with the National Honor Society and other organizations along with playing soccer. Jonathan is currently attending Lewis and Clark Community College and plans to transfer to a four year institution in hopes of becoming an Optometrist.
Lisa Dickman graduated from Triad High School with a 3.47 grade point average. Due to personal experiences and being involved with many school activities, she decided that her future profession would involve directly helping people. Lisa is currently attending Southwestern Illinois College and plans to pursue a career in nursing.
Sofiya Knebel graduated from Marquette High School with a 3.07 grade point average. After overcoming personal obstacles and being involved in many public outreach activities, she is confident that she wants a career that will back to her community. Sofiya is currently attending Southwestern Illinois College and plans to pursue a career in psychology or criminal justice.
Joshua Ponce graduated from Triad High School with a 2.74 grade point average. Ever since his sophomore year, he was interested in helping to create healthy family environments. Joshua is currently attending Southwestern Illinois College and plans to pursue a career in psychology or business.
Ashley Henry graduated from Mulberry Grove High School with a 3.51 grade point average. Despite having many different career interests, she came to the conclusion that working in the medical field was her true desire. Ashley is currently attending Kaskaskia College and plans to become a Registered Nurse.
