Being in the right place at the right time paid off for Sharon Minor! Sharon came into our East Alton workNet Center resource area in the summer of 2014. She had just moved to Collinsville from Danville, Illinois to look for job opportunities. She had been looking for a job for the last two years in Danville with no success.
Sharon heard about our center from her sister, who was working in the center in a part-time work experience program. Sharon was encouraged to use the resource computers for updating her resume and job search, along with checking out our job board for jobs. Sharon used the center for two days revising her resume, completing her reference page, and applying for jobs. One of the applications available in the office was for a logistics staffing agency, Staffing Synergies. Sharon completed the application which was scanned and emailed with about twenty other customers’ applications.
Sharon had little hope of finding employment because she had been searching for a long time. She said “The staff was so helpful and supportive. They showed me step by step how to set up my resume, and provided an amazing amount of resources for me.”
After Sharon’s application was received by the company, on the following week, she was called for an interview. She was hired immediately for a warehouse associate position due to her previous work history in the logistics field.
It wasn’t long after she was hired that Sharon was promoted to lead position. She was very thankful for the help she received in our resource area and wished “there were more employment agencies like ours”. She felt the staff went “above board” in helping her find employment and giving her encouragement and self-confidence. Sharon came to the right place!
