Madison County Planning & Development, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Heartlands Conservancy are embarking on a watershed planning process for the two watersheds that drain into Cahokia Creek. Watershed planning is a way to strategically identify and address water quality and flooding issues, creating a long-term vision for the improvement of drainage. The larger Cahokia Creek watersheds consists of two smaller watersheds, Indian Creek and Canteen Creek. The planning effort will address each watershed separately since they flow to different points of the Mississippi River system.
