The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) reviews all zoning petitions including rezonings (map amendments), special use permits, variances, administrative appeals, and any change to the zoning ordinance (text amendments). The ZBA is comprised of seven (7) members who are appointed by the County Board Chairman. The following members currently serve on the ZBA:
Michael Campbell, Chairman
Pat St. Peters
The ZBA regularly holds public hearings to receive public input on zoning issues. Unlike most jurisdictions, the Madison County ZBA holds on-site hearings, making it more convenient for neighbors to attend. After all public input is heard and all evidence submitted for the record, the ZBA meets at the Madison County Administration Building to deliberate and vote on petitions. The ZBA provides a recommendation to the Planning & Development Committee, who will then submit a recommendation to the County Board.
A schedule of upcoming zoning hearings can be found on the County Calendar or you may call the Department for additional information at 618-296-4985. Click here to view meeting agendas and approved meeting minutes.
