Environmental Laboratory
Staffed by Certified laboratory technicians, the department operates a full service Environmental Laboratory. The lab performs analysis of drinking water and wastewater. The following county departments are supported by the lab:
- Planning and Development Department – Private Sewage Disposal Sampling Program
- Special Water District – Industrial User Sampling Program
- Solid Waste Department – Landfill Groundwater Monitoring
- Health Department – Private Water Well Sampling
- Municipalities and Townships – Phase II Storm Water Illicit Discharge Sampling
In addition, the Environmental lab also acts as a private enterprise performing laboratory services for the following:
- Public and Private Water Supplies
- Public and Private Sanitary Sewer Systems
- Individuals with private water wells (free testing for Madison County residents)
- Miscellaneous Industrial Users
