Planning Division
The Planning Division is responsible for developing and
implementing policies and programs that provide economic and social benefits
to residents, businesses and government. Our number one priority is to provide the best possible services to
the citizens of the community in a professional, courteous and efficient
manner. It is the mission of the
Planning Division to facilitate land use planning efforts for the community
consistent with mandates and the community’s “vision.” We do this by:
Coordinating development review, consistent with the
2020 Madison County Comprehensive Plan
and
Madison County Zoning Ordinance,
for land use proposals that require action from elected and appointed bodies
Understanding state and federal programs and regulations regarding land
use planning and assuring consistency with them
Participating in the development or modification of federal, state, and
local land use planning programs and regulations
Acting as the primary point of contact regarding long-range land use
planning for areas within the unincorporated Madison County
Ensuring that citizens have the opportunity to participate in the land
use process
