HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNT (HSA)

A Health Savings (HSA) is a tax-advantaged medical savings account available to individuals enrolled in a high-deductible health plan (HDHP). Unlike FSAs, an HSA is owned by the individual and the money in the account rolls over and accumulate from year to year if not spent. Madison County Government offers one HSA/HDHP medical plan option that meets the requirements for HSA eligibility. Employees who enroll in one of the other medical plan options (Buy-UP PPO or Base PPO) are not eligible to open an HSA.
