The Homelessness Prevention/Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP), funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, is designed to assist individuals and families experiencing an imminent threat of eviction (prevention) or those literally homeless (re-housing). Funding is made available through three local service providers for short-term rental assistance, security deposit, utility deposit, utility payment, or legal assistance. The program requires an initial assessment of need and participation in case management. Assistance is based on the minimum amount needed to prevent the participant from becoming homeless or returning to homelessness in the near term.
