After college Todd went to work for the Alton Memorial Hospital Ambulance Service where he became a paramedic. In 1992 Ballard was nominated for the “Heroes In Our Midst” award for providing first aid and medical assistance to the Kuna Indians in the San Blas Island area near Panama City, Panama, South America
