At this time, the VAC is fully operational and completing appointments both in person and remotely via the telephone or other electronic mean as needed and appropriate. We are rotating VAC Staff daily in order for Veterans to complete necessary appointments as well as drop off or pick up items, sign documents and related other business as instructed by VAC Staff.  Please be advised that a facial covering is required when coming into the VAC for any in person scheduled appointment. Free facial coverings are available for Veterans who may need one.


During this time the VAC is asking Veterans to limit walk-ins by calling ahead. If you decide to come into the VAC as a walk-in, we will verify your contact information and then call you to discuss your need/s and set-up any in person or remote appointment as maybe needed and as appropriate.

Any Veterans in Active Crisis or in need of immediate Medical Attention should call 911, go to nearest Emergency Room and/or call the Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255 and Press 1 or text to 838255. 


Mission Statement:

The Veterans’ Assistance Commission (VAC) provides needed services exclusively to Honorably Discharged Military Veterans and their families who reside in Madison County. The VAC works closely with local Veterans’ Service Organizations (VSOs), as well as local, state, and federal agencies, to ensure the rights to which each Veteran is entitled are preserved and granted. Services include Interim and/or Emergency Veterans' (Financial) Assistance, Administrative Case Work and advocacy-related services (case management), Transition Center services, and VA medical-related transportation services (DAV Transportation Network).

The Veterans' Assistance Commission of Madison County provides services for approximately 22,000 Madison County Veterans.
