Responsibilities
Promote tourism and markets in Madison, Jersey and Calhoun counties as a destination for visitors, conventions, and economic development. The CVB represents dozens of communities and hundreds of businesses that make up its membership. The organization’s budget is supported by hotel taxes from supporting Madison, Jersey and Calhoun counties. Membership dues and Illinois Bureau of Tourism grant funds.

Meeting Schedule
Board of Directors meet monthly at 8 a.m. on the third Thursday of the month in the Council Chambers at Alton City Hall, located at 101 E. Third Street.  In the event of a scheduling conflict, meetings may be moved to another location or date as approved by the board of directors.

Twenty (20) members from Madison, Jersey and Calhoun counties. Madison County chair appoints one (1) with the approval of the county board.

Responsibilities
Metro transit Bi-State Development is governed by the Bi-State Development Agency Board of Commissioners, which is responsible for the overall leadership and policy direction for the Agency.

St. Louis Region Airport Authority

Responsibilities
To manage the St. Louis Regional Airport in Bethalto. The duties of the Airport Authority include enacting ordinances and resolutions regarding rules, regulations, standards, practices, and policies applicable to the Authority, users of the airport, and the public. The Airport Authority also strives to attract business to the airport.

Seven (7) members; three (3) members are appointed by the county board chair with approval of county board. Remaining board members are appointed by the mayors of Alton, Bethalto, East Alton and Wood River.

Compensation
No more than $150 per month

Qualifications
Applicants must be residents of Madison County. No person shall be appointed to the Board of Commissioners of any Airport Authority who has any financial interest in the establishment or continued existence thereof or who is a member of the governing body or an officer or employee of a municipality, a county, or any other unit of local government, or an elected official of State or federal government, except when the authority is wholly located within a single county with a population of less than 40,000, an individual employed by a local school district may serve as a commissioner.
