AMEREN GRANT BENEFITS
MADISON COUNTY FAMILIES IN NEED
Madison County Community Development announced it is partnering with Ameren Illinois to assist Madison County residents with their energy bills.
The $55,000 grant was received this month and distributed to families in need. Madison County Chairman Alan J. Dunstan says the funds were beneficial to county residents.
“The partnership between Madison County Community Development and Ameren Illinois serves to help individuals and families in our community get through the winter safely and comfortably,” stated Madison County Chairman Alan J. Dunstan. “We are certainly appreciative of Ameren Illinois’ commitment to the well-being of our residents.”
Funds from the grant were designated to households falling between 151 and 200 percent of the 2015 Federal Poverty Guidelines. Qualifiers were based on 30-day income and number of people in households.
The funds have already been distributed and applied to the recipients’ Ameren Illinois accounts. Applications for these monies are no longer being accepted.
Ameren Illinois President Richard Mark said the grant is a reflection of Ameren Illinois’ dedication to helping Illinois communities.
“Many customers, particularly those in lower-income areas, are seeking relief to pay their energy bills,” Mark said. “Ameren Illinois is committed to serving the community and that’s why we’re partnering with local social service agencies to provide relief to those who need it most.”
The grant to Madison County Community Development is part of a total of $1 million in energy assistance that Ameren Illinois is awarding to 26 agencies across its service territory. Through its Ameren Cares program, Ameren Illinois is investing in non-profit organizations and mobilizing its employees to support local charitable causes. In 2015, Ameren Illinois donated $1 million to military families, seniors, low-income customers, and social service organizations to help them offset their energy costs.
The company also offers several programs to help customers with bill payment and financial support, including Warm Neighbors Cool Friends, Energy Efficiency incentives, and Budget Billing.
